david,
Your piece with Max was interesting.
You suggested that the collapse of the U.S. economy has been orchestrated. I looked at your argument again because I too have thought it has been part of a plan.
I wanted to make a couple of points. If the economy collapses and people blame the bankers and the elites for it, are we not reproducing the political trajectory of the Russians? Didn’t their economy collapse, weren’t their civil rights smashed up, didn’t they see their opportunities dwindle, and too, didn’t they blame the bankers and the elites? And so, because of the agitation of a few, went to the streets and overthrew the Czar’s government and tried to put in some kind of alternative?
I see parallels. And if there are, shouldn’t we be very hesitant to go down the road they did?
Another point…I thought the American elites have always been on the side of the right wing argument, that the leftists who complain about corporate power are in it to take over the state for themselves and so, people who are weak and poor need to see leftists as their enemy, not the elites. If this is their argument, won’t the violence in the streets degenerate into civil war between the fascists and the marxists instead of some effort to undermine the power of the thieving elites?
Lastly, I think Americans have their heads up their butts a lot farther than the Russians did. Americans are probably the most insulated from what’s going on in the world of any peoples I know. And so, no matter what happens to them up and beyond detention in FEMA camps, they will not react.
Whereas most people will struggle to lift their lips off of the boots of their masters, Americans are right down there kissing and smootching arguing with each other over positioning.
